When hearing a ruckus down the street where the two curs live with a skinny man who appears fragile and possibly paranoid, probably uneasy from housing noisy guard dogs. I hear a woman scream and not a second later, I’m out the front door and barreling down the street to see a couple with their little dog being attacked by the mangy curs. The neighbors stand on the edge of their sidewalks but do nothing to save three lives in danger. This big boy Mastiff, using his best kickboxing moves, pivots on his hind legs and flies through the air, rotates his body and brings one down with a back paw blow to the chest while flipping upward to grab the other cur by his head and pull it to the side using a head butt to knock him unconscious causing him to loosen his grip on a little dog hanging from his mouth. Both dogs remain motionless on the sidewalk. I notice the woman is crying over her lifeless terrier tot. I use my nose to push him onto his back and breathe into his mouth. He opens his eyes startled at seeing my big face in his line of vision and then seconds later, he’s holding onto my haunches and won’t let go. I sit down and wrap an arm around him while he pulls himself together.
Blood drips from the battered man’s body onto the ground, but I notice people wrap their worries around the little dog leaving the Dog Dad to go unnoticed until the paramedics arrive, and the police turn the place into a crime scene. Unbeknownst to Yours Truly a neighborhood boy taped the entire scene on video. No doubt, it will become an internet sensation. This will require a week in seclusion to avoid the press who are now arriving in vans and heading in the direction of Yours Truly for an interview.
